Chen Bin

Deputy Director-General, Third Institute of Oceanography, Ministry of Natural Resources.

Born in 1970, bachelor of Marine Biology and master of Environmental Science of Xiamen University, PhD of Environment Engineering of Tongji University, second-grade researcher. He is currently the Deputy Director-General of Third Institute of Oceanography, Ministry of Natural Resources.

Since participating with work in 1992, Chen Bin is mainly engaged in the research of marine ecological assessment and conservation ecology. He has successively served as executive deputy director of the Open Laboratory of Marine Ecology and Environmental Science and director of the Marine Biology and Ecology Laboratory of TIO. Since May 2015, he has been the deputy director-general of TIO, responsible for the scientific research works, including the program of global change and air-sea interaction, polar regions, environmental protection, disaster prevention and reduction, etc.; in charge of the Office of Science and Technology, and assisting the director-general in charge of foreign affairs and international cooperation.

Chen Bin is currently chairman of the Fifth Marine Ecology Committee of the Ecological Society of China, and has been appointed as leader of the Marine Biology and Chemistry Expert Working Group of the major national project, “Global Change and Air-Sea Interaction”, expert of the preparation group for national key R&D program “Blue Granary” Implementation Plan, member of the first National Advisory Committee for Ecological Protection and Construction, and member of the Sixth Chinese National Committee for Man and the Biosphere.

Chen Bin has published over 80 papers in Scientific Reports, Chemosphere, Ocean & Coastal Management and other domestic and foreign journals, and over 10 monographs, authored the English monograph "Marine Ecosystems of North Sulawesi, Indonesia" and two Chinese monographs "Marine Ecological Restoration Theory and Practice" and "Marine Biodiversity Conservation and Management Technology Based on Integrated Coastal Zone Management". He has won one Second Prize in Marine Science and Technology (ranking 1st) , one Award of Marine Engineering Science and Technology, and three Second Prizes of Marine Scientific and Technological Innovation.
